ANOTHER DESERTER. - Our active chief officer of police, Crispin Jessop, took a man into custody on Wednesday evening last, on suspicion of his being a deserter from Her Majesty's Navy, which afterwards proved correct, the man admitting that he deserted from Her Majesty's Ship Calcutta, 84 guns, in June or July last. He gives his name as David Hickmer, and says he is a native of Brighton, and that he entered on board the steamship Prometheus, at Belfast, Ireland, in April 1854.
